Ort / location: Das Centovalli ist das Tal der 100 Täler und Intragna ist sein Herz. Hier beginnen die Einstiege in die Täler Onsernone mit der Isorno und in das Richtung Domodossola führende Centovalli mit der Melezza. Nach Südosten geht es der Melezza entlang Richtung Locarno bis Ponte Brolla, dem Einstieg ins Maggiatal. Von da bis zum Lago Maggiore heisst der Fluss Maggia. Am besten ist Intragna mit dem öffentlichen Verkehr erreichbar, beispielsweise von Zürich in 2,5 Stunden. Es gibt viele Verbindungen täglich. Mit dem Auto dauert die Reise abhängig vom Verkehr drei bis vier Stunden.
The Centovalli is the valley of 100 valleys and Intragna is its heart. Here start the openings to the valleys of Onserone with the river Isorno and of Centovalli towards Domodossola with the river Melezza. To the southeast, the route follows the Melezza towards Locarno as far as Ponte Brolla, start of the Valley Maggia, where the Maggia forms the river‘s name as far as the lake Lago Maggiore. Intragna is ideally reached by public transport, by train or bus, or by private car, for example form Zurich within 2.5 hours. There are many connections daily. By car it will take about 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic.
Intragna Das alte „Städtchen“ mit seinen vielen verwinkelten Gassen sowie die weiteren Orte in der Umgebung bieten eine wunderbare Umgebung zum Verweilen und Zeichnen. Du kannst von vier Workshops zwei auswählen, die jeweils je zwei Vormittage dauern. Neben den Workshops und weiteren, kleineren Veranstaltungen stehen gemeinsame Spaziergänge, Wanderungen oder selbständiges Zeichnen zur Auswahl. Treffpunkt der Workshops und Veranstaltungen ist der Bildraum Miravalle, ein Altstadthaus im Zentrum von Intragna. Unterkunft bieten die Hotels und B&Bs im Ort und in der Umgebung.
The old „town“ with its many winding streets and the other places in the area offer a wonderful environment to linger and draw. You can choose two of four workshops, each lasting two mornings. In addition to the workshops and other smaller events, you can choose to go for a walk together, go for a hike or draw on your own. The meeting point for the workshops and events is the „Bildraum Intragna“, an old town house in the center of Intragna. Accommodation is provided by the hotels and B&Bs in the town and the surrounding area.
Das Haus / the house: Der Bildraum Miravalle dient Zeichnerinnen und Zeichnern als Treffpunkt und Arbeitsraum. Er steht im alten Dorfkern (nucleo) an sonniger Lage. Im Parterre befindet sich ein Raum, der als Treffpunkt, Arbeits- und Galerie genutzt wird. Im zweiten Stock ist die geräumige Cantina mit Küche und das Dachgeschoss ist als Atelierraum nutzbar. The Bildraum Miravalle serves us sketchers as a meeting place and workroom and is in the old village center (nucleo) in a sunny location. On the ground floor there is a small studio that serves as a meeting place, work and exhibition space. Sketchwalks in der Umgebung / Sketchwalks in the area: Das Programm bietet neben den Workshops die Möglichkeit, an den Nachmittagen und den ganzen Mittwoch entweder in Intragna zu verweilen oder sich an einem Spaziergang (Sketchwalk) in der Umgebung oder an einer Wanderung zu beteiligen. Das Centovalli bietet vielfältige Möglichkeiten für Spaziergänge und anspruchsvolle Wanderungen. Der Fussweg von Intragna dem Fluss Melezza entlang nach Ponte Brolla und dessen spektakulären Badefelsen dauert etwa 90 Min.. Die Wanderung von Loco auf dem alten Säumerpfad Via Vosa nach Intragna beansprucht etwa 3 Stunden ohne die Zeichenpausen.
In addition to the workshops, the program offers the opportunity to spend the afternoons and the whole Wednesday either in Intragna, or to take part in a sketch walk in the area or in a hike. The Centovalli offers a variety of options for walks and challenging hikes. The footpath from Intragna along the „Melezza“ river to Ponte Brolla and its spectacular bathing rocks takes about 90 minutes. The hike from Loco on the old mule track „Via Vosa“ to Intragna takes about 3 hours without the drawing breaks.
Hotels und weitere Unterkünfte /Hotels and other accommodation: Da das Tessin im Sommer beliebt ist, empfielt es sich, die Unterkunft früh zu buchen. Intragna hat zwei Hotels und mehrere Pensionen und B&Bs. Auch Ferienwohnungen können hier gemietet werden. Intragna ist aber auch von den umgebenden Orten gut erreichbar. Beispielsweise von Cavigliano oder Golino, wo es ebenfalls günstige Hotels hat, sind es mit dem Zug oder Bus 5 Minuten, zu Fuss etwa eine halbe Stunde. Von Locarno dauert die Anfahrt mit dem Zug oder Postauto etwa 30 Minuten.
As the Ticino is popular in summer, it is advisable to book your accommodation early. Intragna offers two hotels and several guesthouses and B&Bs. Vacation flats are also avaibable.. Intragna is also easily accessible from the surrounding villages. For example, from Cavigliano or Golino, where there are also inexpensive hotels. It takes 5 minutes by train and half an hours by foot. From Locarno it is 30 minutes by train or post bus.

Du kannst von den vier zweitägigen Workshops zwei Workshops und die entsprechenden Themen wählen. An den Nachmittagen und am Mittwoch kann frei gezeichnet werden oder man beteiligt sich an Führungen, Ausflügen im Tal und gemeisamem Zeichnen zum jeweiligen Workshopthema. Es ist vorgesehen, in der Galerie des Bildraum Miravalle eine kleine Ausstellung mit den entstandenen Zeichnungen einzurichten.

TeilnehmerInnen: Maximal 24, pro Workshop maximal 12 TeilnehmerInnen. Die USK-Week freut sich auf alle, die gerne zeichnen. Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.
Aktuelle Informationen: Vor den Workshops wird jeweils um 08:50 über die Details des Programmes und die Treffpunkte der Sketchwalks informiert. Auch kurzfristige Programmänderungen sind möglich.
Material: Eine persöhnliche Auswahl von Stiften, Pinseln, Farben, Skizzenbüchern und Zeichenblöcken sollte mitgebracht werden. In den Workshopbeschreibungen wird das spezifische Material der einzelnen Workshops erwähnt. Reservezeichenmaterial steht zur Verfügung, auch in beschränkter Anzahl Campingstühle und kleine Staffeleien. Wetterfeste Kleidung, Schuhe mit gutem Profil oder Wanderschuhe, Rücksack, evtl. Wanderstöcke, Sonnen- und Regenschutz, Badezeug sind empfohlen.
Programme: You can choose two workshop leaders and the corresponding topics from the four two-day workshops. In the afternoons and on Wednesday you can draw freely or participate in smaller guided tours, excursions in the valley and drawing on the respective workshop theme. It is planned to set up a small exhibition of the resulting drawings in the gallery of Bildraum Miravalle.

Meals: Breakfast in the booked accommodations, dinner either individually or together in restaurants and grottos in the area. Lunch individually.
Participants: Maximum 24 participants, corresponding to 12 per workshop. The USK Week is looking forward to everyone who likes to draw. Prior knowledge is not required.
Current information: Before the workshops, information will be given at 8:50 a.m. on the details of the program and the meeting points for the sketch walks. Short-term program changes are also possible.
Material: A personal selection of pens, brushes, paints, sketchbooks and drawing pads should be brought along. The specific material of the individual workshops is mentioned in the workshop descriptions. Reserve drawing material is available, including a limited number of camping chairs and small easels. Weatherproof clothing, shoes with tread or hiking boots, backpack, possibly hiking sticks, sun and rain protection, bathing suit are recommended.
WS 1, Lis Watkins (ausgebucht, booked up)
Textures with watercolors In this workshop I hope to share ideas for creating textures with watercolour on location, alongside ways to add depth to your sketches. During the first morning we will look at different ways to create textures of rock, stone, water, trees and foliage, using watercolour along with a small selection of additional materials, such as waxy crayons, chalk pastels and charcoal. We will also look at different ways to make marks, on layered watercolour washes, with your normal brush. On the second morning, we will look at ways to create depth in your sketches using variety of tone, scale and diagonals, without the need to formally think about perspective and there will be time to create one sustained piece of work combining all the techniques covered in both sessions of the workshop.
about I am a London-based illustration professional, delivering hand-drawn images and maps to help businesses connect with their customers. My client list in recent years includes AEG Presents, Octopus Books, Goodwood Road Racing Club, The AA, APL Media and Retail Revival. As well as illustration projects, I have experience of producing visuals and sketches to tight deadlines for clients in the events sector. I am a member of the Association of Illustrators. When working on illustration projects, I can work directly on location or in the studio from photographs. Work is made using traditional materials of pen and watercolour, then scanned and completed on Photoshop. Artwork is usually delivered digitally. I started a drawing blog, ‘Line and wash’ in 2011 and I am a keen sketchbook user. I helped to organise events for the local London Urban Sketcher chapter for over four years and was lucky enough to be one of the participants on the first ‘Sketch Tour Portugal.’ I have been enjoying spending time recently exploring and drawing different areas in London. The additional materials for the workshop will be distributed. Participants only need to bring a sketchbook, watercolor paints and brushes.

WS 2, Ryan Little (ausgebucht) Der Mensch im Fokus Sketchen mit Fineliner, Tusche & Aquarell im monochromen Stil In diesem Workshop zeichnen wir mit verschiedenen Materialien und versuchen auf spontane, spielerische Art und Weise eine Geschichte zu erzählen. Für das Erklären einer Geschichte spielen Motivwahl und der gewählte Bildausschnitt eine entscheidende Rolle. Was möchte ich darstellen? In welchem Raum? Menschen im urbanen Raum zeichnerisch festzuhalten, erfordert oft genaues Erfassen von Körperhaltungen, Bewegungen und Eigenheiten der Person und gleichzeitig flexibles Reagieren auf sich verändernde Motive. In einem weiteren Schritt soll der Fokus dann auf dem Bildaufbau liegen. Überlegungen zur Berücksichtigung der verschiedenen Bildebenen, sowie Darstellung visueller Schwerpunkte sollen uns bei der Bildkomposition dienlich sein. Die Komposition eines Sketches kann auch bei komplexeren Szenen durch Reduktion und Simplifizierung der Form an Ausdruck gewinnen. Darüber hinaus eignet sich die monochrome Darstellung als Stilmittel gut, um sich mit Tonalitätswerten auseinander zu setzen und dem Bild zusätzlich Tiefe zu verleihen.
Material: für den Workshop eignen sich folgende Materialien: Fineliner, schwarze Filzstifte (wasserfest), Brushpens (z.B. von Pentel), Tusche, Aquarellkasten und Pinsel. Für meine Skizzen verwende ich Fineliner unterschiedlicher Strichdicke: 0,05mm – 0,8mm. Skizzenbücher mit etwas festerem Papier oder loses Papier (mind. 120g.). Ich verwende häufig loses Papier auf einem Clipboard (z.B. gekörntes Papier von Clairefontaine, A4, 180g).
Ryan Little (*1986) schloss 2013 sein Psychologiestudium ab und arbeitet heute hauptberuflich als Fachpsychologe für Psychotherapie FSP. Bereits in früher Kindheit gehörte das Zeichnen und Malen zu seinen Lieblingsbeschäftigungen, wobei die Leidenschaft fürs Gestalten über die Jahre immer mehr gewachsen ist. Im Gymnasium wählte er Bildnerisches Gestalten als Schwerpunktfach und lernte verschiedene Medien und visuelle Darstellungsmöglichkeiten kennen. Ab 2015 entdeckte er Urban Sketching als visuelle Ausdrucksform und als Möglichkeit im Hier und Jetzt seine Umgebung festzuhalten. Urban Sketching bedeutet für ihn Entdecken, spielerisches Experimentieren und sich während des Prozesses immer wieder überraschen zu lassen.

WS 3, Nicola Maier-Reimer (ausgebucht, booked up) 1. Menschen Zeichnen! Am ersten Tag zeichnen wir Menschen und ihre Gefühle, wobei es um das Nachempfinden von Dynamik und Ausdruck geht. Woran erkenne ich, was ein Mensch fühlt? Wie drückt sich das in der Pose aus? Wie entsteht Humor? Ich möchte ermutigen, humorvoll und schnell zu zeichnen. Wir werden dabei das Prinzip des Gesture Drawings kennen lernen.
2.Geschichten zeichnen Am zweiten Tag zeichnen wir Momentaufnahmen. In kleinen lockeren Skizzen finden wir zunächst unseren Fokus, machen uns dann bewußt, welche Wirkung wir mit Farbe und Perspektive erzeugen, und fügen anschließend Figuren hinzu, so daß eine lebendige Szene entsteht.
Materialliste: Loses, grobes Skizzenpapier und ein Skizzenbuch mit Aquarellpapier, Bleistift, Knetradierer, wasserfeste Buntstifte, wasserfeste Filzstifte. Ich verwende PITT Artistpen Strichstärke F und meinen Füller mit wasserfester Tinte. Aquarellfarben und Pinsel.
Nicola Maier-Reimer (*1965) wohnt in Hamburg und ist Illustratorin und Karikaturistin. In ihrer Freizeit füllt sie Skizzenbücher mit allem, was sie anspringt. Sie unterrichtet auf Malreisen und gibt Workshops zum Thema ‚Urban Sketching‘ und ‚Menschen zeichnen’. Ihre besondere Liebe gilt dem Comic, und dem Zeichnen von Menschen im Alltag: „Menschen inspirieren mich. Ihre unterschiedlichen Proportionen, ihre Posen. Ich sehe sofort Geschichten.“
WS 4, Sylvain Cnudde (ausgebucht, booked up) 1. Light and shadow with one tone. When we begin to sketch, it‘s sometimes difficult not to feel lost in all the colors we see around us. That‘s why I propose to start by sketching with only shades of grey, just to show where are the light and the shadows We will see how to choose well illuminated places, with high contrasts given by the sunlight, to express more easily the volumes. Material needed: - A waterproof black pen, but a non waterproof can also be interesting. Ballpoint pen welcome. - Some brushes of different sizes. Brushpens welcome. - A little bottle of black ink, and some water to dilute it. - And of course the sketchbook you are used to.
2. The light through the leaves In a second part, I suggest to continue to try catching the light, but this time, through the leaves, and in colors. We will go from the lightest to the darkest, by adding progressive layers and without forgetting to use the white of the paper.
Material needed: - Waterproof pen or pencil - Watercolors - brushes/brushpens Sylvain Cnudde, born in 1979, living in Paris suburb, Sylvain Cnudde is a graphic designer and illustrator in an astronomical laboratory hosted by Paris Observatory. „When not at the office, I fill sketchbooks with all kind of urban sketches, always having in mind that drawing every day is the only way to improve skills, and a relaxing way to spend time and to fix memories of places, people and events. I specially love sketching vintage cars, underground rock bands, but the most important subject actually, for me, is the light.“
